Sydney Road was alive today as hundreds took to the streets in the worst riots seen since the infamous "baby milk" protests of 2005.
The riots began at around 8am as word filtered out that Brunswick supergroup Perico had been denied this week's Golden Parrot, despite being clearly the best band on in Brunswick this weekend.
What started as a peaceful protest soon got out of hand when an unknown provocateur, who looked suspiciously like well-known state election candidate and Brunswick drinker, Damo Wilding, started a chant that went something like "Golden Parrot for the best gigs, lets go fight the pigs."
Innocent bystander and shopkeeper Andy Butcher told pericoloco:
"I can understand their anger, I mean the vote must've been rigged. But couldn't they smash up Fitzroy or Northcote instead?"
